Secret Stairways Show

I exhibited five stairway paintings in a show, Secret Stairways, at Abrams Claghorn Gallery, July 1 – August 30, 2020. My show was part of a project mentoring artists just starting to exhibit; I was honored to share the space with talented artists including Sandy Wren Olgeirson and Lorraine Zerman, and to be mentored by Pamela Blotner, Elisabeth Addison, and gallery owner Robert Abrams.

At first I was disappointed when it was clear the show would be happening mid-pandemic. No in-person mentoring meetings, and a relatively quiet, spaced-out-in-time reception without even wine and cheese! But mentoring by Zoom had real advantages too – scheduling was easier, and we could show each other images from around our homes. Most importantly, the show gave me something to look forward to, while nothing much else was going on. Completing paintings in advance of the show kept me motivated and happy.

Ultimately, over a dozen family members and friends came to the reception, and more folks came by to look at my paintings over the course of the show. I sold a painting! And a number of prints.

Three of my paintings are now on semi-permanent exhibit in the shop side of the gallery!
